Stay up to date at CentipedeTool.com/Kickstarter
Now that the pre-production process has begun, it is time to begin the second phase of our Centipede Sawhorse launch strategy with the kick off of our Kickstarter campaign on Friday, November 1.
Early backers of the campaign will take delivery of their Centipede Sawhorse in as little as 3 months!
Join us as we watch the production process unfold throughout the campaign. Share our campaign with your friends and celebrate our milestones with us as we gush over how CUTE the pictures of our newly born products are. If you’re even half as excited we are, we are all in for a good time!
For the Uninitiated, Some Back Story:
First off, if you haven’t seen the video yet, CLICK HERE. Seriously. Take your time, we’ll wait.
Armed with little more than that video, we conducted a successful enough crowdfunding campaign over the summer to contract a production facility and get the production process started. As you read this, the production tooling and injection molding is being constructed. By the middle of November, we’ll receive the first pre-production samples for our testing and inspection. After making the necessary adjustments, the first production run should start no later than early December.
In the meantime, we’ve got a lot of work to do to get the Centipede Sawhorse ready for prime time. We need the support of additional orders through our Kickstarter campaign to bring us through to the next level. From packaging design and signing up for UPC codes to a compelling point of sale display and showing retailers we do indeed have the next best thing they’ve been looking for, there is a lot to be done. And we won’t be able to get this work done without you.
Current Production Status
There isn’t much to photograph while the molds and fixtures are being made, we’ll be sharing photos of the factory’s progress here as they become available.
While we’ve already taken orders from 118 supporters for 198 total Centipedes, our minimum order quantity is quite a bit higher than that. We’ll have dozens of extra Centipede and Centipede PRO Sawhorse Kits that we need to deliver to keep the factory working while we make ourselves ready for distribution to retail.
Stretch Goal: Habitat For Humanity and The Home Builders Blitz
We’ve decided that it is important for us to build a legacy of supporting our communities from the very beginning. After discussing this with the backers of our initial crowdfunding campaign, we held a vote that indicated a preference for focusing our efforts on supporting Habitat for Humanity. We then announced that for every 100 Centipede PRO Sawhorses ever manufactured, we will donate 1 Centipede PRO Sawhorse Kit to a local Habitat for Humanity affiliate.
Then, we contacted their Gifts in Kind department to discuss our options to make it official. During this conversation, Heather mentioned the National Home Builders Blitz coming up in June of 2014. This amazing event aims to help construct more than 300 new houses, and rehab or make substantial repairs to existing homes across the country. We immediately knew we wanted to be a part of this, but a small company such as ours couldn’t possibly afford to sponsor such an event. So, we’ve decided to change things up a bit for this campaign.
Instead of donating the usual 1 for 100, we will donate ONE Centipede PRO Sawhorse Kit to Habitat for Humanity for every FIVE Centipede PRO Sawhorse Kits sold through our SUPPORT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY rewards during this campaign. (Or ONE Centipede PRO Sawhorse Kit for every TEN Centipede Sawhorse Kits)
It would be awesome to raise enough funds to an “Iron” level sponsorship of this event! But if we don’t get there, we’ll still be helping out by donating what we raised and you can look for them at local ReStores.
What do you get the man or woman who has everything? How about something that no one else has?
To be clear: There is no way we can get these delivered by Christmas. But what we are going to do is send a card to your loved one to let them know that you’ve reserved one for delivery to them in February. I’ll see how many designs I can come up with for you to choose from and I’d be able to personalize greetings by request. I have a nice printer and would get some glossy card stock, so it should be a perfectly classy affair. More details to come.
The rewards for this campaign come from the production run you are helping to fund. Get a Centipede Sawhorse Kit or a Centipede PRO Sawhorse Kit shipped to your home in the U.S. Add an extra $5 or $10 added to the pledge amount to get them to Canada or Mexico – we’ll cover the rest. By fairly popular demand, we will also be making our accessories kits -Bench Clamps and X-Cups – available.
